AM - 11.5 miles. Ran 6.7 w/ Andrea, then added on some more. Nice, easy run on another beautiful morning. Running on the snow covered grass park was the highlight. Feeling pretty good after the harder effort yesterday afternoon.

We watched the NYC Marathon before heading out. Awesome race. The lesson to be learned from Mary Keitany: don't go out too hard! But the real story was Geoffrey Mutai running a negative split 2:05:05... holy moly! Course records in every world major race (Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, NYC) in 2011... I don't think "raising the bar" even begins to describe what has happened in the marathon world this year.

Nice run by Meb K, too. If Sasha has proven that a 2:30 marathon can be run in Crocs, Meb has now proven that a 2:09 marathon can be run in Sketchers. I think both are impressive! :-)

PM - 2.7 miles shakeout.

I was wondering if that was what he was running in. That was definately an interesting race strategy by Mary. That mile split down 1st made me question if she was going to be able to hold on. Nice run with 2 weeks to go!

Nice run! Mutai is seriously like a machine. So inspiring to watch him run.

Meb a great runner. I think we would be even greater if he didn't have so many injury setbacks in the past..

14:26 at the end of the race! he is unbelievable.

From Jake K on Sun, Nov 06, 2011 at 20:35:51 from 67.177.21.60

Textbook way to run a marathon. Easy first 5K, then a very consistent pace for the next 20K, then absolutely dropping the hammer! So basically I could hang w/ him in the middle of the race for about 5K if I was all out. That is humbling! :-)

From Jon on Sun, Nov 06, 2011 at 20:44:14 from 74.177.82.194

It's amazing the depth of good marathoners right now...

From Superfly on Mon, Nov 07, 2011 at 14:00:26 from 74.211.21.81

outside of America right Jon... Wish we had a couple more big guns. I mean hats off to Meb but he really wasn't even in the same race as the top 3 guys.

From Jake K on Mon, Nov 07, 2011 at 14:09:37 from 155.100.226.53

Meb's run was impressive, but he's not even in the same league anymore as the top Kenyans (the top Ethiopians are barely in the same league as the top Kenyans right now!). Luckily for the rest of the world, they can only send 3 guys to London. They probably deserve to send about 8.
