SLC 15K w/ 4.5 miles warmup and cooldown to sort of double-dip and make this a longer run.

5:16, 5:14, 5:21, 5:13, 5:18, 5:09, 5:11, 5:15, 5:11, 1:33 = 48:43. Three-mile splits were 15:52, 15:40, 15:37, so it was a pretty good negative split (~40 seconds faster coming back).

Bryant put a little gap on me somewhere b/w 5-6 miles and it stayed that way to the end... he won by about 6-7 seconds. We had a nice pack for the first 5 miles (along w/ Matt P and Coyle).

Felt strong and in control today... Andrea said my form looked noticeably better, more smooth and relaxed... and she's a tough critic, so I'll take that compliment! I'm forward to running the half-marathon in Phoenix next weekend.

Andrea's photos (start at #52).

Amazing weather for the winter series. Remember last year? :-)

I got a laugh out of the elevation profile generated by my watch...

Great shoes...

I think the Salt Lake needs some more water...

This is probably my last race in Utah until... Draper Days in July?

Nice race today, Jake! You are definitely rounding into form quickly. You are ready for a good one in Phoenix. I really enjoyed running and hanging out with you today. I love your garmin course profile. Pretty funny; there isn't even a bump in the road!

Nice photos by Andrea!

Nice race Jake. That elevation profile looks right on. Thanks for the encouragement at the end. I would like to hear what Andrea has to say about my form because I was sort of disgusted by it.

I do remember last year but I'm not sure how you could. I am #1556.

Nice race brotha. See ya in July. :)

I remember last year forced me to the treadmill... which I've felt bad about for a full year, until I found out today that Kassi did the same thing - warmed up and then bagged it.

From Rob Murphy on Sat, Feb 22, 2014 at 20:10:57 from 24.10.249.34

I always thought that course was deceptively hilly! Thanks for the proof.

From Rob Murphy on Sat, Feb 22, 2014 at 20:14:47 from 24.10.249.34

Oh, and I've never felt even remotely bad about last year. I chalk it up as a tribute to my good sense.

From Jake K on Sat, Feb 22, 2014 at 20:16:53 from 67.177.11.154

The Garmin never lies!

I can still count my TM runs on one hand, so at least I didn't make a habit of it. Your suggestion that day probably helped me win the marathon the following weekend!

From Jason D on Sat, Feb 22, 2014 at 21:22:27 from 24.1.80.94

Good race today. You do look relaxed. Of the two videos and one in-person sighting, I think you have dropped your arm swing a few inches and your elbows are closer to your body.

Great photo of you and Josh and matching shoes.

From Fritz on Sat, Feb 22, 2014 at 21:58:46 from 98.202.9.237

Great job Jake. And it looks like you got in a better workout than the others because you ran a tougher course. You are set up well for Phoenix.

From Steve on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 06:07:42 from 66.87.66.148

Phoenix is a good half course. I may run that too next week. Love that elevation profile!

From jtshad on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 08:03:40 from 69.20.183.178

Nice race, looking strong. Like the Hurricane's jacket too!

From Kassi on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 08:10:26 from 23.255.225.41

Right on Jake! Really strong today. Off to bigger and better things now!

From allie on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 12:09:12 from 65.130.189.75

nice race. birthday garmin would have done a better job with the elevation profile. wear it at phoenix next week and you'll see.

it looks like the palace photobombed that really touching pic of you teaching josh about the lake.

From allie on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 12:09:25 from 65.130.189.75

also, your next race in utah better be the SHRC mile eliminator!

From Rob Murphy on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 12:29:16 from 24.10.249.34

"Josh, did you know that The Great Salt Lake is a tiny remnant of prehistoric Lake Bonneville and that only one species of shrimp lives in there?".

"And that with each year's diminishing snow-pack, it becomes less and less great every year".

From SlowJoe on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 14:29:30 from 66.69.93.8

Great job, Jake. Cool video too, looking very smooth.

Don't forget to log your vert.

From RileyCook on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 15:20:33 from 73.52.134.194

Really nice pacing and negative split and a great effort heading into Phoenix. Nice work Jake.

From steve ash on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 16:04:19 from 67.161.243.240

Your set up well for Phoenix:) Stay rested and stay sharp. I have to agree about your form also. I noticed something different that day when you were past the turnaround. I was just in too much anaerobic pain to process it! Good luck:)

From Jake K on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 17:56:58 from 67.177.11.154

Allie - I still don't think my executive counsel is going to approve me racing the week after Grandmas, but I hear you are tight w/ Andrea, so see what you can do :-)

Rob - I was SOOOO lost on your comment about the Salt Lake for several hours today. I JUST got it a few minutes ago.

Thanks everyone. Glad we had such spring-like weather for most of the winter series this year. I'm sure that bodes terrible for all the spring marathons.

From Rob Murphy on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 19:02:47 from 24.10.249.34

I'm glad you got it Jake.

From Jon on Sun, Feb 23, 2014 at 22:10:36 from 107.203.52.135

I never knew a lake shore could be so hilly.

From Rachelle on Mon, Feb 24, 2014 at 10:24:06 from 159.212.71.173

Great race Jake. Really nice consistency and negative split.

No "thou shalt run this year"? Utah county will be so dissapointed!

From Superfly on Mon, Feb 24, 2014 at 10:39:28 from 74.211.21.81

Awesome race. But I come here for the photography. Love the pictures:).
