AM - 10 miles (3 w/ Andrea)

PM - 6 miles.

The acute illness resolved a few days ago (+1 for medicine), but it's taking forever to get my energy and legs back. You know that drained, depleted death march feeling that happens when you're finishing a cooldown at the end of a really long workout or race? That's how the start of my runs have felt the past few days.

On the bright side it's great to be able to run with Andrea again! And to be honest that really makes up for the fact that this marathon block fell apart like it did. I'll happily take that tradeoff.

Great attitude Jake!

Good to hear you are back on your feet - and Andrea is too!

Sucks about the plague, but I'm happy to hear Andrea is running again too. How is everything feeling this time around for her? Does it seem like it'll all finally be resolved?

I hope I don't jinx anything by saying this...

She started running regularly when we went to Mexico (she thrives in heat and humidity). So far, so good, this time around. We feel like the second surgery worked, it just took a lot longer to recover from than anyone could have anticipated (6 months instead of 6 weeks). Fingers are crossed, to the point where they are turning blue, that this is behind her. She still needs to be (and is being) pretty cautious about how much she can run and it will have to be a very, very gradual ramp up.

And for the record, at this moment on April 2nd, she is faster than me on a 3 mile run.

I like it. I mean, I hope you get better really soon, and I'm legitimately disappointed you won't be at your best for London, but picturing Andrea leaving you in her dust makes me smile.

It makes me smile too. I can just shrug my shoulders (like MJ in the '92 Finals) as I try to keep up around the horsepark :-)

I just came in to check how you are doing with that plague you contracted (boo!) and am SO STOKED to learn about Andrea. No one would want to jinx it Im sure, but wow. Pain free running (even slow or short) must feel like heaven to her (and you) right now.

I have everything crossed for you both to continue onward and upward!!!

No doubt you have "jinxed" her. When Andrea re-injures herself it will be because you expressed optimism on the internet.

You need to cancel these comments out ASAP with some doom and gloom pessimism.

Penny - Yeah... it's been a full year since we've been able to run together (and since she's been able to run at all!)... so we are happy and just hoping it sticks this time, and she's doing what she can to make sure it does. We were just looking at your Paris photos yesterday... I loved the impetus for the trip :-)
