Andrea finally got home last night after 8 days in Philadelphia: abdominal surgery round two and subsequent recovery. We finally found out why every type of conservative rehab imaginable wasn't helping - the first surgery (16 months ago) never healed properly (and was probably botched in the first place). Dr. Meyers had to re-do the side that was already "repaired", and also fix the "good" side because that had started to tear over the past year as well. It was pretty extensive - he removed scar tissue from previous surgery, loosened up the lower abdominal area because it was excessively tight, released both psoas, released the left adductor and pulled right adductor back up to a higher attachment point so it can function correctly.

Andrea is really, really tough.

OMG that sounds so brutal. What a tough cookie! I am just so glad everything finally got figured out and she can concentrate on healing :)

Talk about being put through the wringer... Nothing like a botched surgery to extend the pain. Hopefully this is it.

Awesome. Sounds like this will be the solution! Sounds brutal. Please give her my best.

I hope everything works out for Andrea. It;s been a long battle I'm sure. Wish a speedy recovery.

Dr. Meyers did my surgery last year Jake. He's a good guy. Best wishes and speedy recovery for Andrea.

We followed your recovery, Bret. The way you bounced back compared to Andrea made it obvious that something had gone wrong w/ Dr. Brown.

Dr. Meyers is definitely the Michael Jordan of the field... obviously in hindsight Andrea would have gone to him a year and a half ago. She was really impressed by the whole team and approach at Vincera.

From Bret on Fri, Sep 19, 2014 at 02:36:59 from 99.1.220.106

Really hoping this goes well for her. The team at Vincera were really great - and Meyers himself follow-up with phone calls and texts to me to check on my progress post-op. That personal touch was a first for me. He has great statistical success too - she should be looking at this in her "rearview mirror" sooner than she knows it.

Oh wow Andrea is definitely a tough cookie. Please tell her I'm thinking of her. Thanks so much for the update Jake.
