AM - 10 miles. Fartlek: 3 x (5 x 1 minute) at 15K/10K/5K effort, or thereabouts... just ramped up the effort a bit on each set (4:54/4:50/4:46). One minute jog b/w reps, 3 minutes b/w sets.

PM - 3 miles.

This podcast with John Davis of Running Writings is excellent. He touches on a lot of important topics including injury prevention (hip strength!) and has some great thoughts on recovery.

Is your tree surrounded by structures filled with masonic and satanic symbology, like DC? If so, I'll come do my shakeout run there tomorrow.

...of course it is.

I am excited for your race. Thanks for the podcast.

I think of recovery as a four letter word. It's interesting how a lot of this sounds basic and recovery should be basic but nobody wants to hear about it.

I am still figuring it all out but being able to run high miles, do workouts and recover adequately really requires a smart approach. And a long term approach. If you try to fit everything into one cycle, you are setting yourself up for a setback.

"If you try to fit everything into one cycle, you are setting yourself up for a setback."

That's a good point... something you have to be cautious about... but then if you look at it objectively, a possible solution jumps out...

What if you make the cycles LONGER, with less races?

We'll come back to this in October :-)
