AM - 13 miles. LT Efforts: 2 x 20 minutes (2 min jog). Average pace was 5:06/mile for both segments, with a bit of a trigger finish on the second one. Tempo loop. 2.5 up, 2.5 down.

Not a huge improvement over the last time I did this, but an improvement nonetheless (~3 sec/mile). I probably should have waited another day or two for this session (heart rate has been a little too low this week), but I'm headed to San Diego for a couple days (work meeting) and I thought it would be unfair to do this at sea level. Kristen gave me an awesome list of places to run from my hotel in Del Mar, like here. So I'll get a couple nice days of sunshine running along the coast, then start a new block of workouts next week.

PM - 7 miles. Mostly on trails in Torrey Pines beach / park. Longer than a typical post-workout shakeout but google this area and you'll understand why :-)

3 seconds/mile is a significant improvement from 5.5 weeks ago! Another improvement like that during this next block and you'll be flirting with sub-1:05 at Indy.

2 x 20 minutes is a ton of LT pain, great job. Good to see everything paying off as well. Enjoy the trip!

3 seconds of true LT improvement though, not just workout seconds, which could be accounted for by having a good day.

Yeah I think it's a fair indicator of where I'm at right now. I'm in a good place... ideally I'll be able to be in the ballpark of 49:30 at the 10 mile champs, and then extend that out for another 5K a month later.

I like it good work. I agree with Andrea 3 seconds is great. That's 39 seconds in a half!

Nice work Jake. I definitely agree that 3 seconds is a significant difference.

I'm so sorry you have to go to sunny San Diego for work. Rough life...

Beautiful evening for a run in San Diego. Does it get any better than that? :)

From Rob Murphy on Thu, Mar 13, 2014 at 20:25:03 from 24.10.249.34

Why don't school teachers ever get to be in San Diego for a week - except at their own expense when one of their runners makes it to Foot Locker?

Nicely done, Jake!
