AM - 10 miles... FJRAIJTAZ run. Yes, Fritz joined the usual Wednesday crew this morning. I'm not sure if that's the acronym we'll stick with, but it works for today. He claims his "real" name actually starts with a J. We had a nice run - it was warm out this morning. This winter has been too easy. I can only think of like one or two days that were even cold. Andrea's feet are getting a lot better, so that makes me really happy... and James' body doesn't seem to be falling apart - so hopefully soon everyone will be at 100% on the health-meter!

PM - 9 miles. Warmed up 2.5 miles w/ ACorn at the track. Workout was 5 x 1000m w/ 200m recovery jog - 3:04, 3:05, 3:03, 3:01, 2:57. Rob Murphy jumped in the last 600m of the last rep with me. I broke him in the last 100 meters :-) The three of us ran a couple laps around the park to cool down, dodging the cyclists.

Really happy with how easy this felt. I was originally planning to take 400m b/w reps, but after the first one it was clear I didn't really need it, so I jumped right into the second rep after 200m and kept the recovery shorter throughout. I haven't done many of these kinds of threshold intervals in a while. Now a couple easy days before the 15K on Saturday.

Every once in a while Sports Illustrated (well, Tim Layden) has a great piece on distance running. This article on Galen Rupp and Mo Farah is a must-read. I love the 200m repeats in 25 seconds in Park City... jeez... that'll get your lungs burning! And it says they'll be back in PC this summer, so we'll definitely be over there every weekend stalking those guys as they buildup towards the Olympics :-)

Thanks for letting me join the fun and getting me out of bed earlier than usual. I am subtly trying to leave work earlier and earlier so by the time we start weekly track workouts nobody should notice. :)

ha ha I really want to drive up to Highland tonight just so I can yell at you to go faster. :)

Nice morning run!

That's a good plan, Fritz. Just keep sneaking out a minute earlier each day. Before you know it, you'll be running 400m repeats at 4:45pm.

fjraijtaz (that was actually really hard to type) -- it looks like a name for some designer piece of IKEA furniture, but i like it.

i agree this winter has been easy -- it's the best.

Park City is really a great place to train for elites. You can get from 4000ft to 9000ft within 30 minutes, close to the airport to travel, etc. - I can't wait until a team discovers this and does all their training in Utah. Or maybe you can get fast enough and make your own team :o)

Oh PC is an absolute gem in the summer. You have great trails, dirt roads, a brand new track at 7000 feet, and you are 25 minutes from a track at 4500 feet. Salazar knows whats up - he was bringing guys here 5 years ago when no one thought of it as a place for distance running.

We need to do time share seminars every weekend this summer and stay there every friday/saturday night :-)
