AM - 8 miles up to work in the snow. I think the road conditions were actually worse than the big storm from a few weeks ago. I passed about a dozen cars going up Wakara.

PM - 30 minutes pool running.

It was a big weekend for really fast running. Galen Rupp ran a 3:50 mile! (#5 all-time indoors). Mary Cain broke the high school record for the mile (by 6 seconds!!! 4:32!!!). Duane Solomon (Saucony) broke the 600m American Record. Over at the Dubai Marathon, 5 guys broke 2:05 in the same race. And the field for London was released... a PR of 2:05:15 would get you seeded 10th there.

Such an awesome weekend for runners! I agree! :)

This morning was pretty havoc-ey. I tried to run outside when I woke up, but it was a slip mode slog fest. Turned around and got in the car for dreadmill prison sentence :(

8 seconds = $188,000? Wow! That is really crazy!

Yes, very impressive weekend of running. Glad you got home safely. Sounds like you had major travel issues. Sorry to hear that. Back to the routine.....

Glad you made it home safely Jake and I hope you are feeling better today.

Simply insane what happened over the weekend. Not even sure which statistic is most impressive but Mary Cain's 4:32 is pretty unreal!

one of your links takes me to the carl sagan portal.

And they did not even include me in the story on the greatest London men's field ever??? :)

Hope your leg is feeling better - back in the snow.

I guess they are waiting to preview the master's field. Dave Bedford is still working hard to recruit Rob Murphy before he makes the final announcement.

Can you find a video of the Dubai finish? I haven't found one. 5 guys were under 2:05 and all were within 15 seconds. The winner finished with a 25.6 second 200!!!

From Jake K on Mon, Jan 28, 2013 at 12:50:13 from 155.100.226.191

the only ones I can find on youtube are just of hobby joggers. you would think this video would be everywhere!

From Jake K on Mon, Jan 28, 2013 at 12:51:01 from 155.100.226.191

the pack at halfway (which they hit around 1:02:30) was 22 guys. that's almost more impressive than the finish... to have that many guys still in the race at that point, off of such a quick pace.

Good enough? skip to 4:37.

I can't stop saying "Lelisa Desisa." This is going to be a problem for me.

Can we get some billionaire from Dubai to join this blog, and then fly us over there to run the marathon as a tax write off or something? I want to run that course. Perfectly flat, wide roads that aren't crowned at all. That's my style.

Good find on that video Tom. Thanks.

Less than 6" of rain per year = roads with no crowns.

From Jason D on Mon, Jan 28, 2013 at 14:17:30 from 24.1.80.94

I could deal with roads without crowns. I always feel like one leg is much shorter than the other.

From runmehappy on Mon, Jan 28, 2013 at 15:50:34 from 98.202.96.224

Thanks for that link Tom. That is crazy to have 5 guys under 2:05.

From SlowJoe on Mon, Jan 28, 2013 at 17:36:41 from 69.131.141.92

The world just isn't quite right when Jake runs only 8 miles a day.

Tom - I had that same problem with Obafemi Ayanbadejo. Once you know how to say it you can't stop.

The Rupp mile video on flotrack was awesome. Great weekend. Hope you're feeling better!
