AM - 13 miles. 15K AT Tempo in 50:41 (5:26/mile). AZ tempo loop. 3 up, 1 down. Wanted to keep it ~5:30 pace so maybe just a smidge too quick, but still in the right effort range. Splits - 5:27, 5:34, 5:28, 5:18, 5:25, 5:30, 5:23, 5:31, 5:27, 1:36.

PM - 4 miles.

Spent the afternoon at the Rio Salada Sportsman's Club near Usery Pass (where the PHX Marathon starts) playing with some of my parents' new toys. I haven't done a push-up in about 2 months, and that was evident after the first shot with the .357 Magnum :-) We did a lot of sporting clays too, which I am definitely NOT very good at, but it's a fun challenge. Good times... typical Krong family holiday activity. We're only at 3/4 strength this year, though, because my sister went to Europe with her boyfriend for a couple weeks.

Awesome Jake! Maybe there is something to be said about a litte bit of off time afterall. :)

I'll have to give it a try...

Nice run. Closing out the year strong.

I ran the whole Jeremy Ranch run today.Hard packed snow the whole way. Was able to maintain 8 minute pace with no problem which is more than I can say for the Sugarhouse Park loop now.

Another good solid workout Jake. Good to have time off.. Any more group long runs planned for the future this winter?

Somewhat hard to imagine I ran faster for 3X the distance a few weeks ago, but that's the art of peaking. If I had tried to run true marathon pace today this probably would have been harder than it needed to be. But then again, trying to nail workout #1 would be kind of stupid. I felt better (smoother and fresher) than I typically have post-marathon, and I attribute that to the time off. Really helped. I needed it.

Steve I'm sure there will be a lot of winter weekend runs. Probably every weekend... Other than the SLC winter series no one really has any races for Jan/Feb so it's easier to coordinate.

Rob you have the record for most off-season Jeremy Ranch runs. My season is mid-May to mid-October up there!

You're going up there with me sometime this week or next.

I could probably go Sunday... my ski partner will still be in Tennessee.

So jealous. Arizona is my winter run staple. Rob, maybe I can come down Friday or Saturday and run the ranch with you. I won't have the kids though.

Rob, I still have never run the Jeremy Ranch trail. I'll join you out there at some point when I'm back from MN.
