AM - 14 miles. Last chance for Jeremy Ranch! Nice run up there with Rob and the Alta XC team. I skipped their 3 mile tempo portion as I'm really holding myself to taking 2-3 easy days between harder/longer workouts. They ran some impressive times for that road and I can't wait to see how they perform at the state championship next week.

PM - 6 miles w/ Justin. We ran a bunch of laps around SHP because I didn't get enough of that loop yesterday.

2. TAKE RECOVERY DAYS SERIOUSLY The day after a tough workout, the most you want to do is jog lightly or do some form of cross-training, like cycling. You need a recovery day after a hard day. No exceptions.

Thanks for the company Jake.

I really want to highlight all of those points b/c I agree with all of them!!

Thanks for sharing Andrea!

Jake - hopefully I will see you up at State next Wed. Salem has some pretty good runners this year and I'm excited to come watch.

Only Outside magazine would toss in "do some cycling!" to the list. You know there's no way Salazar actually said that.

Good list though. Pretty much the opposite of everything he did during his prime.

He needs to let Galen run the marathon before its too late.

I will be there, Rachelle. Gonna dress in an Alta XC uniform and linger around the starting line just in case I have to jump in at the last minute :-)

I think that's a good idea Jake. I just need you to be a solid #2 or #3 guy though. Running up front would call too much attention to yourself.

Those goats are awesome! I just tweeted them.

Agreed on Galen and the marathon. After last year, I really thought we'd see him become a dominant force on track, but it appears that's just not going to happen. If he waits any longer, he won't hit his potential in the marathon. Jake, what do you think he can run?

From Jake K on Fri, Oct 18, 2013 at 08:07:48 from 67.177.11.154

I think he can run whatever time he ends up running. You know how I feel about predictions / conversions. If I have to guess, though, I'd say sub 3 for sure.

I will admit that I thought he should have run the '12 marathon trials, and he didn't - and ended up with a medal in London... so I was definitely wrong about that. He might have a killer season on the track and prove everyone wrong again.

I like the subtle progression of "GPS watches, smart phones . . . Alter-G treadmills."

Sub 3? IDK, that's pretty quick for someone like Rupp!

Goats in trees is a fantastic world wide web search!

how the goats are able to do the climbing they do is beyond comprehension. Great pics...
