Watch out for this guy in Houston on Sunday. I really like this quote from the article... it sounds like what Andrea and I say all the time! - “I used to tell my wife on Mondays that this is it, I’m going to clean up my diet. It’s been a hundred Mondays and I’m not much better.”

I've enjoyed reading Scott's blog (you posted a link a while back). I hope he runs well.

Plans for Sunday or just see what happens?

Go out slow (~5:10?), which will probably put me in last place early on. Move up, negative split... hopefully run fast enough that running a PR on March 1st seems realistic.

And most importantly, beat SlowJoe.

And by that I mean I'm going to outkick him at the end of our shakeout run on Saturday.

Unless he sets up the meeting w/ Hakeen Olajuwon that I've requested.

I like this: “Being in shape [to run a time] and doing it are two different things,”

And this: "I've always felt it was not up to anyone else to make me give my best."

Don't let SlowJoe's name fool you.

Interesting workout this morning...I like it!

I still say this every Monday and somehow by 10am I'm eating sweedish fish again!

I'm doing something like this about every 2 weeks. I did 3/1 alternations on Jan 1st. Next time it will be 3/2 or 2/2. They'll build to the point of being 1 mile LT / 1 mile AT and going for ~10+ miles.

That "being in shape" comment is very true, Tom. I feel the same way. I think eventually you get to the point where you don't consider what happens in training a victory - you either perform on race day, or you don't. The stopwatch and tape measure never lie. That's not necessarily a bad way to look at it... if you hit your goals, you've earned it, and if you fall short, you start up again and give it another shot down the line.

I just saw the transportation list for Houston and it looks like we're on the same flight. When are you flying back? I'm at like 6:00 am Monday I think.

Hopefully Steve is our pilot!

I'm heading back Sunday evening.

Whenever I read wave tempo, I imagine you doing the wave while running. It doesn't look great because you're doing it solo.
