AM - 7 miles. Group run on the Spray River loop trail.

Overcast morning (would be a theme for the week). Checked out Bow River Falls and Vermillion Lakes.

PM1 - Hiked up Tunnel Mountain (~2.5 miles, 1000'). Perfect timing as the clouds finally parted and we got some great views of Banff.

PM2 - 4 miles. Solo run on the Hoodoos trail in the opposite direction as yesterday. Got my mandatory trip/fall/yardsale out of the way.

PM3 - Discovered Rock Creek Cider.

AM - 20 mile hike/run from Sunshine to Assiniboine Lodge, featuring unbelievable wildflowers and a couple intense rain storms. We spent the next 2 nights in the Naiset Huts near Lake Magog and Mt Assiniboine. This was the highlight of the trip and something I would definitely want to do again. Allie gave a few more details.

It took ~6:50 to get out to Assiniboine (we only ran ~5 miles of the trail). Made it there just in time to be greeted by Claude, change into semi-dry clothes, and get ready for "tea time."

PM - Nub Peak hike. (~5 miles, 1200')

I took an afternoon nap for the first time in ages. It was glorious, but not as glorious as...

AM - 20 mile run/hike from Assiniboine to Sunshine, back the way we came, in 4:29:45. We ran about 15 miles of the trail and it was downright FUN.

PM - Wandered around at Moraine Lake. Spent the night in Lake Louise.

AM - 13 miles. Group run on the nordic trails to the east of Jasper, around a bunch of Lacs/Lucs/Lakes. James and I ran back to the house from there along the Athabasca River.

PM1 - Strolled around at the Maligne Canyon waterfalls / bridges.

PM2 - 5 miles. Ran up to Cabin Lake and back. The water at the lake was perfectly still and I caught a great reflection of the mountains.

PM3 - Epic canoeing on Lac Beauvert. We learned all about the voyagers.

This is the day we were supposed to run the Jasper Skyline Trail, but the area was off-limits due to a forest fire earlier in the week. Too bad Thank god, I was totally prepared un-prepared for a 30 mile mountain run!

AM - 13 miles. Ran up to Pyramid Lake solo to meet the rest of the crew, then ran back to Jasper with James and Kevin. On the way up I heard a rustle in the bushes and sure enough, about 25 feet to my right was a grizzly bear walking in my direction. Adrenaline surge! Fortunately, he wanted nothing to do with me. We figured the chances of seeing TWO bears in the same run was low, so we ran back to town on the same trail (#15)... and saw three gigantic caribou! It was pretty sweet.

PM - Hiked above the Mt Edith Cavell meadows (~5 miles, 1700').

Drove all the way back down to Canmore, stopping at Tangle Falls, Peyto Lake, and a random spot setup by the Royal Canadian Mounted d-bag Police for a quick demerit.
