AM - 10 miles up to work.

PM - 8 miles home. Found the rear window smashed out in my jeep, lots of stuff stolen. Right outside our condo. They ripped out the stereo system in a busch league manner... not a clean removal! The stereo was worthless, but quite a bit of valuable items were stolen - my portable jump starter, a sweet auto repair kit, bunch of other auto equipment, iPod accessories, 3 pairs of really good ski poles, etc. Not really what I want to be dealing with right now... window gone just in time for a snowstorm!

It should be noted that a pair of 1.5" split shorts were left behind!!! Those were good shorts, and I'm glad I still have them!

It should also be noted that ANY IDIOT with opposable thumbs and a clothes hangar can easily break into a 2001 Jeep Cherokee. Don't break the windows! A monkey could do it w/out breaking the window. Heck, even I've done it when I've locked my keys inside.

I dont even know when it happened... could have been anytime in the past 72 hours... I'm glad I realized it now before I went out there tomorrow and the car was filled w/ snow. Good thing I ran out of ice cream and needed to go to the store (which didn't happen!)

Oh this is nothing. About 4.5 years ago this jeep was stolen by a duo of armed robbers and they committed 18 robberies after they stole it. It was held as evidence by the Wash DC police for about 5 months while I was living in Colorado. I need to tell that whole story sometime. The DC police thought I was the armed robber and called my parents telling them I was a suspect. I was like no you fools, the jeep got stolen FROM me!

Only briefly, until they realized that I had already reported the car STOLEN from me. This jeep has street cred. I'll have to write out that whole story sometime, its entertaining! But right now I need to do my PT, I'm 2 hours behind b/c of this nonsense!

That totally sucks. I hope there is a hell for people that do stuff like this. I had my car broken into in California and they took everything except the one thing I cared about, my baseball glove. At least these thieves were decent enough not to take your running shorts.

Sorry Jake! We have had 3 break-ins over the past couple months and like you said... they end up doing more damage breaking in than the actual things they steal. I say we should have a law that when caught, fingers are cut off of the thieves :)

Not really a big deal at all in the grand scheme of things... like I said, after the armed robbery fiasco, this doesn't even phase me!

I am going to make a blog entry with that story. Its a good one, and definitely more interesting than any race report, etc :-) Its on my to-do list for this weekend!

The white wolf figurine was not stolen, either! That little guy means a lot to me. He is a guardian angel of sorts.
