AM - 5 miles, horsepark loop w/ Andrea.

This is one of my new favorite pictures from Boston. The fact that I am making an effort to go for a 1 ounce dixie cup (when there is water everywhere) says a lot about my frame of mind. And I'm jealous of the little girl eating the slice of pizza as big as her head...

The picture would have been better if you were reaching for the little girl's pizza. You can be damn sure that's what I would have been reaching for. hahaha.

Cool pic, Jake. How are you feeling now?

I think we know your new nickname...

RAM MAN.

(aka..Amsterdam RAM!)

And I am jealous of your quad muscle.

From Jake K on Thu, Apr 19, 2012 at 09:55:35 from 155.100.226.54

Our XC/Track team became known as the "Ram Express" during my HS years.

Dale, I'm feeling fine. More like I ran a really hard half marathon, not a marathon. I guess that makes sense, I ran slower than the marathon pace I had trained to be able to handle for the first 15 miles, and then just went to long run mode after that. Muscular damage wasn't really a limiting factor, so I think I'll bounce back really quick. I'm still going to be very cautious this week and next, but I'm optimistic that I'll be able to do a shorter buildup and hopefully run some PRs for 5K/10K/HM in June.

I love that pic! Your legs look awesome! You are amazing!

From Jake K on Thu, Apr 19, 2012 at 10:07:16 from 155.100.226.54

This one might be better. I'm not even sure what muscle that is. I think the marathon forces you to recruit muscles you didn't even know you had :-)

A Steve Bartman sighting! Actually, I'm glad he and his 1 oz. dixie cup were there for you!

From Rob Murphy on Thu, Apr 19, 2012 at 13:06:32 from 205.127.70.66

Way to destroy a years work of training by taking a day off yesterday. Good luck re-building your base.

From josse on Thu, Apr 19, 2012 at 13:52:32 from 166.250.16.114

Love it too, I would take liquids or ice from who ever would give it to me and I was so hungry at the end I probably would have taken that pizza. great job on your race it was a brutal day.

From Jake K on Thu, Apr 19, 2012 at 14:23:30 from 155.100.226.54

I was thinking the same thing, Rachelle!!!

I like that!

From prlman on Thu, Apr 19, 2012 at 23:47:06 from 67.172.234.159

Nice pic, and very smart to get back in slow nothing to hurry or worry about besides I may have a chance to be ahead of you in mileage for a week who knows :)

From Kelli on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 17:08:27 from 71.219.98.16

Rachelle beat me to it! Look at that muscle! Crud. I totally would have grabbed the pizza and walked while eating it.

I came by to check how many miles you run the week after a marathon. INCREDIBLE. It is so cool to read and see how an elite runner trains and thinks without having to read some long, boring book.

From Jake K on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 18:55:20 from 67.182.215.126

haha Kelli so my blog is more interesting than a long, boring book? cool! :-)

I'm keeping the mileage low this week, despite feeling like I could be doing a lot more. Same thing next week.

From Kelli on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 21:58:13 from 71.219.98.16

FAR more interesting. Plus, those other elites would not confess to eating ice cream and diet mountain dew I bet!

Glad to hear you are feeling GREAT.
