AM - 10.7 miles. Usual warmup (2.2 miles w/ accelerations) then 7.5 mile tempo run in 39:53 (5:19/mile avg). Splits - 5:18, 5:26, 5:24, 5:18, 5:21, 5:15, 5:18, 2:33. Cooled down a mile w/ Andrea, who was doing a quick shakeout run. Good run to start off the week.

PM - 6.2 miles. Ran w/ Andrea while she was warming up for her tempo, jumped in for a little over a mile with her, then ran home.

Here's an interesting little nugget that I discovered last night - the time difference between Andrea and I in the five 5Ks we've both run in the past year: 2:07, 2:05, 2:08, 2:07, 2:06. Needless to say, we are very consistent! And if there was a handicapped race where she got a 2:06 head start on me, it would probably be a very exciting finish.

nice tempo this morning.

2-ish minutes is the typical spread between james and i when we are both in good shape. if it's less than that, i win. more than that, he wins. right now he's crushing me in the 5k.

Nice tempo Jake!

You and Andrea are so consistent that it is almost scary. I would guess your HM times show about that same consistancy.

The trend holds - last year we were 10:51 and 10:42 apart at Provo City 1/2 and Long Beach 1/2. At TOU 1/2 we were ~12 mins apart but that is b/c I was running against Paul and had a great push, while Andrea was just getting back into the swing of things and she also ran solo in that one. So if the gap is 11 minutes, that means if I run under 1:05 in Duluth, Andrea should get that 1:16 :-)

That is remarkable! A great "unofficial" measure of both of your current levels of fitness for sure. I have no doubt you guys will go 1:04:XX and 1:16:XX at the USHMC.

We just had a "skirt chaser" race like that in Tacoma where the ladies got a 2 minute head start.

Melody - we would definitely both come back from Minnesota very happy if those were the times :-)

Rattle - they had one of those races in Tempe AZ this winter when we were down there. We didn't run it, but the girls were given a 3 minute head start. Unless I start running 13-something 5Ks, Andrea would crush me with that kind of lead :-)

I really think the competition at Duluth will help push you both to some big PR's. I am excited for you guys.

My friend ran the skirt chaser in Tempe and said it was a lot of fun. I think if I had a 5 min head start I might have a small chance at catching Jake! :) After the 5k on Sat my Dad's first comment was "Wow those fast friends of yours were WAY ahead of you." ha ha yeah thanks Dad. :D

Very nice run this morning Jake! I love the even splits between the two of you, I'm amazed at how consistent they are!! I'd love to see Andrea have a 2:00 head start and see if you can make up those 3-4 seconds :) GREAT race!!!

You guys should try that at the end of the summer. I think you'd have a lot of people there to watch it. Plus you could come up with some crafty bets!

Nice splits, I think it would be a great event to watch you two sprint it out
