AM - 6 miles, easy jogging.

Heading to CA this afternoon for a few days. Tomorrow morning I'll run a 5K in Fontana, then meet up with my aunt & uncle and head to Santa Barbara for the rest of the weekend. Road mile on Sunday morning. I don't really have any specific goals other than to just compete and run to win. The 5K is a point-to-point net downhill course, so my time will get an "*" anyways. And I have no idea what to expect in the mile... other than if I do it right, I shouldn't be able to walk afterwards :-)

The hospitality of both races has already been incredible, and I'm not even there yet. When I emailed Fontana Days about getting an entry, they said sure, and we'll pick you up at the airport and comp you a room at the Hilton for the night! What?! Not sure how I deserve that, but I definitely appreciate it.

I'm also planning on soaking up as much beach time as possible!

PM -  3 miles around the hotel in Fontana. Hot out!

Nice! The humble Jake wonders how he deserves an entry, a ride, and a room while he logs 100s of miles each month running. The rest of us all know the answer. Good luck and congrats on being recognized.

Sounds like a great weekend and I'm sure some great races too. Go get em!

From RAD on Fri, Jun 01, 2012 at 09:26:47 from 98.202.23.178

wow! awesome! Even if you don't win, you've gotten the best schwag from the race already :)

Awww to be an Elite runner! So cool Jake and if anyone deserves it it is you. You work your freaking butt off.

Good luck at both events. Leave it all out there. I agree with you in that now is the time to take those risks. You are ready! Keep us posted please. You know that we all live vicariously through you right?

Good Luck!*

(aided well wishes since I'm typing while walking downhill)

^he he. good one, mark.

it's not often you get the chance to race a road mile. excited for those results. if your legs really do stop working, make sure to get footage.

Good luck this weekend. Can't wait to hear how you do! Beach time sounds wonderful :)

Have a great time in California! Hopefully you don't have much/any soreness or fatigue from the 5K so you can throw down like you want on the mile.

Along with being a ridiculously good athlete, you know how to write a persuasive race entry request. Don't leave your room too trashed.

From Jake K on Fri, Jun 01, 2012 at 11:41:11 from 155.100.226.54

Thanks for the good wishes everyone.

ACorn - I didn't even ask for a room! I didn't even know it was an option. Good surprise, though :-)

Cha-Ching! Nice play Jake. You're going tear it up down there at sea level--hope your shoes can keep up.

My sister has thrown down the gauntlet... Sub 4:00 and she says she'll run a marathon... 4:30 or slower and I have to drink a 12 pack of beer. Haha I accepted b/c I think there in a much higher chance of her having to lace them up for 26.2... Although both results are highly unlikely... I hope! :-)

From JulieC on Fri, Jun 01, 2012 at 13:20:05 from 71.35.250.138

please make her run a marathon!!! :D

From Lulu Walls on Fri, Jun 01, 2012 at 13:27:20 from 155.100.212.98

Yeah make her run!!! But if you do have to drink a 12 pack of beer, can I watch?

From RAD on Fri, Jun 01, 2012 at 13:42:16 from 98.202.23.178

I think someone's running a marathon!!! :)

From ACorn on Fri, Jun 01, 2012 at 14:23:33 from 24.2.76.146

I was joking about the race entry. I'm glad they know how to treat guys that take the sport seriously. It's a good move on their part if they're trying to have the top tier guys at their event.

From AngieB on Fri, Jun 01, 2012 at 14:46:52 from 159.212.71.200

Good luck!!! Kick butt and take names!!

From Jake K on Fri, Jun 01, 2012 at 15:16:00 from 199.36.244.11

If I ran under 4 minutes, I'd do a 4 minute keg stand! Don't get your hopes up for either :-)
