AM - 20 miles in Park City on the rail trail dirt roads. Really nice run... absolutely perfect weather, and did over 90% of the run on soft surfaces. Andrea and I crewed a water station at the 10K trail race in the morning, so biking the course was our warmup. Then after the race was over we started our run. She ran the first ~9 miles w/ me, then escorted me on the bike for the last 11 miles. Averaged 7-flat pace for the first half, then low 6:20s for the second half. Just cruise control pace on a great day. I'm hoping to do a lot of my long runs in PC this summer & fall... I don't know if the little extra altitude boost will help, but it certainly won't hurt!

That's a good idea. I was training in montana at 6,500 ft on dirt last week and felt a difference when I came back. I would be up for a long run up there on a saturday or sunday if you need the company.

Yeah, we should definitely start getting together for some of these longer runs. I'm running Draper Days next Saturday... but I'd be down for another PC long run next Sunday. Plus, while Andrea is still healing up her back, we get free bike supports (aka water bottles) along the run!

I might run Draper Days too as a tune up for Des News. I guess I will need to take a rain check on the PC run because I don't want to overdue it before the marathon the week after. Let's for sure do a few up there in August and Sept.

That sounds like a nice run. I've lived here since 2002 and been to Park City a billion times and didn't know about a "rail trail". I will soon be gearing up for the USATF Masters championship at Twin Cities in October and was just thinking that I need some fresh long run terrain.

Can you describe it and tell me where you access it?

Rob - Here's a link that describes it pretty well:

We picked it up @ the ice arena / hospital area near Hwy 40. There are a ton of other great trails in that area too. Look up "Round Valley"
