AM - 11 miles up to work. 

PM - 10 miles home. 

So now I can post something about Rudisha, right?! HOLY FREAKING SMOKES!!! That was simply brilliant running. I feel lucky to have seen it live. Science of Sport has an interesting recap and analysis. Cool to see Usain Bolt complete the double again, too. Today's action will be good - Women's 1500m and 5000m finals. Really pulling for Morgan Uceny! Dibaba will be going for another 5K/10K double and legend status.

I really liked that piece they did on Rudisha before the race. The part about the nearest surfaced track being 200 miles from him; and showing him, his coach, and other runners removing rocks from the dirt loop they train on. Amazing stuff. Such a humble guy too.

There was a fantastic video documentary I posted earlier this spring that focused on Rudisha and Brother Colm. Its a great story. Amazing tradition of runners from St. Patrick's school.

Did you notice he was the only one not wearing yellow shoes. He definitely prepared well to lead from the start. I liked the science of sports guys comment that the others may want to seek out the 1500 - Rudisha is only 24!

I agree with Allie about NBC not doing the race justice at all. I mean he freaking broke a world record and made it look easy. It was simply unreal!

I didn't see it on NBC. Its a shame that the run is getting really overshadowed. Obviously Bolt put on a show, and the Women's soccer team won, and not many people know who Rudisha is... but still, that was arguably the best performance of the Olympics in ANY sport. When was the last time a WR was broken in a non-rabbited race?

For those who "get it" - we saw something very special yesterday.

And when was the last time Team USA could say we had more success in the 800/1500m than the 200/400m?!?!?

I'm glad Dibaba is running the 5000m. The NBC commentators said during the 10000m final that she was left off of the team. Oops!

NBC also said the 10K was "a little over 6.5 miles"

She was originally the team's alternate, because no one knew how fit she was. She's been injured most of the past year and hasn't raced.

I don't know if you've been watching BBC but Rudisha was just interviewed. A Charming and humble man. He believes he can go sub 1:40.

He is a class act all the way. If anyone can run sub 1:40, he's the man. The problem will be getting a pacer than can even get through 500 meters at that pace!

That women's 1500m was a freaking joke.

The lad from Botswana (where I lived for two years) was closing on Rudisha and might give him a good race at some point.

My heart went out for the US girl - my daughter said, "Those Ethiopians are always pushing or throwing their water bottles on the ground for people to trip over." Then when she heard that the winner had served a ban for drugs and was allowed to run she said, "What's the point of running, if the cheats are allowed to run."

This is a problem. If kids are seeing cheats getting away with it or being allowed to compete after a short ban, it'll put them off the sport.

I watched the 800 but didn't realize until reading some articles today that 7 out of 8 in that race ran a PR. Amazing at that level that could happen.

I have definitely been in awe of many of the athletes!! With that said, I find that one of my new faves is Grenada's Kirani James. I am presently trying to find a poster of him for my 9 year old sprinter! Awesome role model!! FAST and CLASSY!!

Speaking of amazing ... CHECK OUT YOUR MILEAGE!!! I keep scrolling up and down your week making sure that I am seeing it correctly!!!
