AM - 16 miles. Purposely started out really easy and then after 5-6 miles I started to feel pretty good and by the last couple miles my legs forgot that I raced yesterday. No residual soreness, probably since I didn't push it out quite as hard on the downhills. That being said, I'm still sitting in the ice bucket right now and not taking any chances.

Lots of bloggers were mentioned in the Herald-Journal recap of the race

PM - 6.5 miles. Loop around the block w/ Andrea, then 5 more. Lazy day... we just didn't feel like getting in the car to do anything or go anywhere. We did manage to walk the 30 steps out to the pool and floated around for a long time :-)

Great job. Amazing that you can come back with 16 even if you weren't pushing. Maybe the marathon in a few weeks will leave you sore for a few hours haha!

Probably an understatement to say "not pushing"... I guess I should say "not hammering the bejeezers out of my quads" like when I took off like a bat out of hell last year :-)

I definitely feel like I RACED yesterday and it wasn't just another hard workout.

You are seriously like superhuman Jake! Nice 16!

That article was great. I feel like I know a bunch of famous people.

I was referring to not pushing today's run. Even an easy 16 is amazing to me the day after a half. You're one of a kind!

oh lol... yeah at this point recovery is pretty quick... I actually felt a lot better once I was out moving my legs for a while.

What I really love about half marathons is the quick bounce-back compared to the marathon. It just doesn't destroy you like 26.2 does, especially when you have a big base under you.

Just couldn't let someone else have the mileage board lead for a day could you? ;)

haha its fair game, everyone knows my routine by now... there's still 3 more hours in the day!

Congrats on your 1st 1/2 marathon win! I finally got a chance to read your report. Nice to know you weren't 100% sharp, but could pull off a nice win.
