AM - 7.3 miles, easy recovery run. Legs are feeling great. Andrea was doing a workout this morning on the track, and I didn't like the idea of her running alone in the dark, so I went with her. I ran her warmup/cooldown with her, and ran laps around the perimeter of the track while she was doing her reps... yelling "LAST CHANCE WORKOUT" the whole time :-)

PM - 2 miles, rain shakeout.

Did you know the accuracy of the running course in a triathlon only has to be accurate to 10%?! (Link to story) So technically the "marathon" portion of an Ironman can be 2.5 miles short and that is perfectly within the rules. I don't necessarily have an opinion on the matter, or really even care at all, I just find it interesting the so much margin of error is allowed.

HAHA I wish you would've actually done that - I probably would've run 5 min pace!!

My wife would love your reference to Biggest Loser:)

I find that triathlon fact very interesting too. So how many Ironman marathons are short? 2.5 miles could be a big deal with their boasting times. I mean a 2:40 marathon at the end of a Ironman is really impressive but a 2:40 on 23.7 isn't the same. Still great but not apples to apples.

2.5 is a lot to be short. That's to bad they allow such a big margin.

Andrea is tough. She's going to kick some trash this weekend!

Very interesting read on the tri-"marathon". Now it makes me wonder which tri's have short marathons...?

Yeah that's a HUGE difference... I don't know exactly what the top triathletes can do, but I'm guessing the best ones clock ~240 for the run. So that could easily be 255 if the courses are short!

And to think how big of a deal we all make if a course is off by 0.1!! :-)

Good luck this weekend Jake!
